Tools and Templates

1. Template for a quick and easy evaluation of training programmes

General evaluations measuring the satisfaction level of participants to a training often lacks input on the quality of the training and doesn’t always have impact on the implementation of changes on the job.

Therefore a model has been developed to engage learners more in their own learning objectives and to create an enabling environment for the trainee to implement acquired knowledge and skills on the job.

This is a template for evaluating the effectiveness of a training programme. It stimulates the trainee to take ownership of its own training objectives and it tries to look at the longer term impact of the training.

2. PSCBS Learning Transfer System Inventory

This questionnaire is based on the LSTI (Learning Transfer System Inventory): this is a tool to diagnoses the factors affecting Transfer of training. Transfer is possibly the highest form of effect one can measure and observe. It's also an important indicator to see if the training contributes to the realisation of the project.
Results of this questionnaire give an indication of post training satisfaction with impact, applicability and multiplier effect of training.

This interview guide focusses on three areas: attendance, training delivery and impact/transfer/applicability of the training. It can be adapted according the specific learning situation and supplemented with extra questions (for example regarding the financial follow up of the respective programme. The purpose of doing this type of interview is to draw lessons for future training programmes and to intervene whenever this appears to be necessary.
